Kenny Chesney Reveals Track List for New Album, “Cosmic Hallelujah,” Which Features Songwriters Hayes Carll, Hillary Lindsey & More

Kenny Chesney made some “Noise” in March when he released the aforementioned track as the lead single from his upcoming 17th studio album, which, at the time, was tentatively titled Some Town Somewhere. The tune became another Top 10 hit for Kenny and looked to pave the way for the new album’s scheduled release in July.

Kenny, however, took a detour from Some Town Somewhere in July and decided to rename the album Cosmic Hallelujah. He pushed the drop date back to Oct. 28 and wet everyone’s whistle by releasing the album’s second track, “Setting the World on Fire,” a duet with P!ink that is now a Top 5 hit.

Today (Sept. 21), Kenny revealed nine more tracks that will comprise his new 11-song offering.

  2. “Setting The World on Fire” (feat. P!nk)
  3. “Some Town Somewhere”
  4. “Trip Around the Sun”
  5. “All The Pretty Girls”
  6. “Bar at the End of the World”
  7. “Winnebago”
  8. “Jesus and Elvis” (feat. Allison Moorer)
  9. “Bucket”
  10. “Rich and Miserable”
  11. “Coach”

“I’ve been blessed with some of the best songs out there, some songs written, actually, just for this album by writers whose work I’ve loved for years,” Kenny said in a press release. “When ‘Setting the World on Fire’ came together, it opened a window of time—and some songs that had come in after we were done, I didn’t have to save for the next album. Suddenly, everything was changing, and the album I’m releasing now has a lot of what made Some Town Somewhere capture the essential part of who the No Shoes Nation is, but really takes the your-life-is-now piece of The Big Revival and expands it.

“And there’s one very special song I’ve been holding for years called ‘Coach’ that we went in and re-cut,” said Kenny. “It really captured that song’s heart.”

Matraca Berg, Hayes Carll, Hillary Lindsey, Shane McAnally, Allison Moorer, David Lee Murphy, Jon Nite, Josh Osborne and Craig Wiseman are among Cosmic Hallelujah’s songwriters. The Oscar-nominated Allison Moorer also provides vocals on “Jesus and Elvis.”
